What we do

Locksmith work for cars, homes, and businesses

Most people don't think about their locks or keys until something goes wrong. A key snaps off in the ignition. The only fob you own stops talking to the car. You move into a new property and wonder who else still has a copy of that key. These are the calls we take every day at E-Mobilize Auto Key & Lockout.

We work as a mobile service, so the van comes to you. There is no tow to a dealership, no removing hardware from a door, no waiting room. We cut and program keys on site, open locked vehicles and buildings without damaging them, and handle the small problems that leave people stuck. Not sure what you need? A short phone call usually answers it.

Where we work

Serving Folsom, Elk Grove, and the area in between

E-Mobilize Auto Key & Lockout is based in the Sacramento region and covers a wide stretch of surrounding communities. Most of our calls come from Folsom and Elk Grove, but the van regularly travels to nearby neighborhoods and the roads in between.

We meet people in driveways, office lots, and parking areas around shopping centers and grocery stores — basically wherever the problem is. If your town is not listed, call and ask, or check our service areas page.

Common situations

The calls we get most often

You're down to one working key

A lot of drivers and homeowners only call us after they've already lost a key. Getting a spare made while you still have a working one costs less than starting from nothing, because the system has something to copy from. If there are two drivers in the house, two keyholders at a business, or you just want peace of mind, a spare is worth doing before you need it. Ask about a spare on your next call.

The remote works but the car won't start

When the door locks respond to the fob but the engine won't catch, the transponder chip inside the key is usually the issue — not the buttons. The remote and the chip are two separate systems in the same key. We test the chip and re-pair or replace the key so the car reads it again and starts normally.

A staff member left and had a key

Employee turnover is one of the most common reasons businesses call us. Rekeying is the fastest way to ensure a departed employee's key no longer works. We can rekey every relevant lock in one visit, cut new keys for current staff, and have everything done before we leave — so there's no gap where the old key still works.

Repair, replace, or rekey?

Not every problem needs new hardware, and not every key issue needs a full replacement. We look at what's in front of us, explain the options, and give you a price for each before anything starts. Sometimes a fresh key cut fixes a sticking ignition. Sometimes the cylinder needs to be addressed. You decide after you have the full picture. Our FAQ page covers the common questions.

Questions

Answers to what people ask us

Can you make a car key without the original?

Yes. For most vehicles we can cut and program a new key even when every original is gone, using the lock or the vehicle's key code. We will ask for proof that the car is yours before we start — registration and a matching ID are the usual documents.

Do you program key fobs and push-to-start smart keys?

We do, for many makes and models. Some of the newest vehicles can only be programmed at a dealer, and if yours is one of them we will tell you on the phone instead of having you wait around. When we can do it, we pair the fob to your car on site.

What information do you need when I call?

The year, make, and model of the car, and a short description of the problem. For some keys we also need the VIN, which is on the dashboard by the windshield and on your registration. That lets us bring the right key and chip the first time.

Can you open my car or home without damaging it?

That is the goal on every lockout. For vehicles we use tools built for opening cars through the door seal, which avoids prying the frame or scratching paint. For homes we open residential doors without damaging the frame, door, or lock. Older or unusual locks take a little longer, but the careful approach is the same.

Can you rekey multiple locks to the same key?

Yes. We can rekey several locks — home or commercial — in a single visit so that one key works all of them. This is a common request when moving into a new property or simplifying access after a staff change.

What are your hours?

We answer calls around the clock, including evenings and weekends. If you reach us at an odd hour, give us the details and we will let you know what we can do and when we can be there.

How much does locksmith work cost?

It depends on the job and the type of key or lock involved. We give you the price on the phone, before any work begins, so there are no surprises when we arrive.

What to expect

How we work with you

A price before we start

You hear the cost on the phone, based on your job. Work begins only after you say go — no surprises on the invoice.

The van comes to you

Car, home, or business — we bring the tools and parts to the location rather than asking you to tow or haul hardware to a shop.

Honest about the job

If a model needs a dealer or a job is outside our range, we say so. We would rather point you the right way than have you wait on something we cannot finish.

Tested before we leave

Every key, lock, and remote gets checked before we go. You try it yourself so you know it works before we drive away.
